Volunteers: Training is highly recommended and volunteers may attend any training that is convenient to you, see the schedule below. On the day of the Count, please arrive at the deployment center you indicated as your #1 choice, unless we contact you with other instructions. We will monitor registrations to ensure adequate coverage in all regions. GENERAL START TIME IS 6:00 AM, confirmation will be sent to all volunteers.

Trainings are mandatory for Paid Homeless Guides. Homeless Guides must bring a signed referral cardfrom a homeless service provider who will vouch for you, to participate in training. At the end of the training you will receive a card certifying you have been trained. You must bring this card to your local deployment center to begin work. Be there at 6:00 AM on Friday, January 27th.

Trainings will cover:
  • What a Homeless Count is and why we are doing it
  • Required Volunteer Consent and Confidentiality forms
  • Team composition
  • Locations we will be canvassing
  • Tally forms
  • Street Outreach Safety

Onsite Trainings:

Onsite training will take place at 6 designated sites between January 20th-22nd, 2016. Trainings are mandatory for homless guides and volunteers are strongly encouraged to attend. Trainings will be conducted by staff from Applied Survey Research and the Continuum of Care and will take place at the following times:

  1. Sonoma Valley: Wednesday, January 18th from 9am - 10am. Vintage House, 264 1st Street East, Sonoma.
  2. Santa Rosa #1: Wednesday, January 18th from 12pm - 1:30pm. Family Support Center with Catholic Charities, 465 A Street, Santa Rosa.
  3. Guerneville: Tuesday, January 17th, 2016 from 5:30pm-6:30pm. West County Community Services, 16390 Main Street, Guerneville.
  4. Petaluma: Friday, January 20th, 2016 from 9am-10am. Mary Isaak Center with COTS, 900 Hopper Avenue, Petaluma.
  5. Santa Rosa #2: Thursday, January 19th from 3pm-4pm. Sonoma County Community Development Commission - 1440 Guerneville Road, Santa Rosa.
  6. Healdsburg/North County: Thursday, January 19th from 9am - 10am. Healdsburg Day Labor Center, 405 Grove Street, Healdsburg.
